CAO Application Dates and Fees 2024-2025
The CAO processes applications for member institutions from 01 March for the following years January (First Semester) intake. The CAO processes applications for member institutions that have a Second Semester intake from 01 August for the following year’s July (Second Semester) intake.
Understanding the CAO Application Fee Structure
The Central Application Office (CAO) simplifies the application process by collecting a one-time administration fee that covers multiple program applications across affiliated institutions. This streamlined approach means your chosen universities will only access your application after the CAO confirms your fee payment.
Here’s what you need to know about the CAO fee:
Application Fee Details:
- A single fee permits applications to up to six different programs via the CAO system.
- This fee is inclusive for all applications within the province’s universities through the CAO.
- Note that the fee is non-refundable.

Payment Instructions:
- Visit the CAO website to submit your application.
- Upon processing your application, instructions for the fee payment will be provided.
- If you need to pay after submitting your application, navigate to ‘My application’, enter your CAO or ID number, and select ‘Pay Now by Credit Card’ for online submissions.
- Fees can be paid at any EasyPay-affiliated store, such as Shoprite, Checkers, and others, using your CAO number and ID number as references.
- You can also pay at the CAO office in Durban with a card.
Important Reminders:
- Ensure your fee is paid by the application deadline.
- NSFAS applicants should indicate their need for financial aid on their CAO application.
Remember, meeting the application fee deadline is as crucial as the application itself to secure your admission process.
